Poisonous
and polluted effluents from National Hydroelectricity Power Corporation (NHPC)
and Hindustan Company (HCC) in Bandipora district north-Kashmir northern India
have affected the environmental condition of the area. Similarly, environmental
condition of whole Ganga system is also deteriorating due to the discharge of
about 501 million liters per day of waste water into Ganga River and its major
tributaries by about 764 industries.
