The apple orchards have been decreasing in Thimpu,
western Bhutan due to development activities. According to the renewable
natural resource’s (RNR) and agriculture statistics, number of apple trees has
reduced by half in four years and the
numbers of fruit bearing trees has
plunged from 81,000 to 48,000 from 2008 to 2012. In contrary, the apple trees are increasing
in Haa and Paro districts.
