Many protected birds of Nepal are being exported to foreign markets while
Nepal itself is also being a transit country for poaching of Indian birds. The
Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) had raided four places in Kathmandu, central
Nepal against the illegal trade in protected birds and animals. The police have
recovered 463 birds like Galliformes, Starling (Sturnus vulgaris), Estrildidae, love birds’ species and 74
rodents of Caviidae species till now from traders and smugglers.
