INADEQUATE RAINFALL HALTS PADDY CULTIVATION- BHUTAN



Transplanted paddy fields are on the verge of withering in sun, in Wangdue village, Punakha, northern west Bhutan, due to the water shortage resulted from insufficient rainfall. This year more than 283.4 ha land were left fallow and those fallow land area is increasing year by year. Moreover, inadequate rainfall has also affected hydropower sectors in Wangdue district central Bhutan.
