TRADITIONAL PONDS ON VERGE OF EXTINCTION- NEPAL



Locals of Kandi belt region in Jammu district, northern India had constructed many ponds for harvesting rainwater to solve their problem of water scarcity. But those ponds are now in risk due to new settlements in the area. Traditional ponds are in the verge of extinction due to poor management, growing population, growth of new residential colonies, solid waste dumping and sewerage disposal.
