ANNUAL SOJOURN OF MIGRATORY BIRD STARTS, INDIA



With the arrival of winter season, thousands of migratory birds from Siberia and Austria have started landing in Pong Dam wetland in Hamirpur district, Himachal Pradesh, northern India. Till now 20,000 birds have been spotted on the shallow waters of the Beas among which major species were ruddy shelduck, coots, cormorant and common poachers. The increase in number of birds has attracted tourist and local people. Also, the number of poachers has increased in the area.
