The Chitwan National park in Chitwan, western Nepal has started to use
innovative technique, the carrot approach for training to the elephant tuskers
instead of using canes and shackles. The birthing elephant Program of Asia has
been conducting the training which goes beyond mere domestication of baby
elephant. According to the technique, elephants are being trained by offering
sweets for lesson learnt instead of physical punishment for mistakes made.
