LADAKH THE ROLE MODEL IN PROTECTING SNOW LEOPARD, INDIA


After long endeavor of two decade, the Ladakh region, Jammu, northern India has become a successful example for the world when it comes to conservation of endangered species ‘Snow Leopard’. With the help of local people, the Wildlife Department and various non-governmental organizations have succeeded in preventing man-animal conflict and discouraged killing of the exotic wild cats found in Trans Himalayan-Karakorum mountains  of the region and central Asia.  Image by Mike Leveille
