Timber smuggling is rising day by day in Batpora forest, 12Km from
Kupwara town, northern India. According to the locals, timbers are being
smuggled at night time and the forest officials are hand in glove with the
smugglers. In want of effective monitoring of the forest by the field staff the
forest will be transformed to barren land soon.
