WILDLIFE POACHING INCREASED IN KHOTANG- NEPAL



Smuggling and poaching of wild animals like red panda, black bear, porcupine, owl and axis deer have increased mostly at Chilimlahure, Bagale, Phungalung, Chimalung and Thamkharka community forests of Khotang district, eastern Nepal. Due to lack of proper monitoring by concerned authorities in most of the community forest, located far from district headquarters, the illegal activities are on the rise. Animals are poached mainly for their body parts.
