Rise in temperature to an unpredicted level has
caused sparrows and other small birds to die in droves in Itahari, eastern
Nepal and across large parts of Tarai belt this year. There are 872 species of
birds found in Nepal but the wildfires have destroyed natural habitats of birds
in forestlands. However, birds dwelling
in low branches and bushes are more vulnerable than those that live in
canopy.
