A study conducted by National Environment Commission (NEC), Department
of Geology and Mines, Cultural Department, and Labour Ministry concluded that
the size of the Khural lake has been reduced by the deposition of sand. The
lake is rich in aquatic ecosystem where starfish, sea horse, sea shell and
other sea creatures are found still surviving. The survivals of these animals
are under threat as the lake is becoming shallower.
