Most
of the villagers of Bajura district, far western Nepal, have shifted to the
collection of herbs from agriculture to increase their economic condition. Low
agricultural production and lack of arable land are the reasons which have
compelled the locals to collect the herbs. There are around 125 varieties of
medicinal plants in 27 forest areas of the district. Trading is permitted for
24 herbs.
