Due to the prolonged drought and scorching heat in
various parts of Achham, Bajura and Bajhang districts, far western Nepal, folks
are facing crippling water scarcity. According to the villagers, they have to
walk for hours to fetch just a pitcher of water as all the water sources have
dried up in the area. As many as 100 families of Jagannath VDC, Bajura are
compelled to drink contaminated water from the local streams resulting in the
increase in the number of diarrhea, cholera and typhoid cases in District
Public Health Office.
