SUBSIDIES FOR TIBET GRASSLAND CONSERVATION

To safeguard grassland conservation in Tibet Autonomous Region, southwestern China, more than USD 958 million subsidies and rewards had been granted from 2009 to 2013. Thus, Tibet possesses a comprehensive controlling system on grazing embargo, steadiness of animals and grazing, and subsidies for improving grass-breed variations. Accounting for 68 per cent of the region’s terrestrial area and one-fifth of all of China’s natural grassland, the whole region holds more than 82 million ha of natural grassland.
