To
safeguard grassland conservation in Tibet Autonomous Region, southwestern
China, more than USD 958 million subsidies and rewards had been granted from
2009 to 2013. Thus, Tibet possesses a comprehensive controlling system on
grazing embargo, steadiness of animals and grazing, and subsidies for improving
grass-breed variations. Accounting for 68 per cent of the region’s terrestrial
area and one-fifth of all of China’s natural grassland, the whole region holds
more than 82 million ha of natural grassland.
