With the onset of dry season, occurrence of
wildfires has increased in community forests of Bajura district, far-western
Nepal. Wildfire has destroyed VDC-based forests in Jugada, Budhiganga, Kolti,
Martadi and Badhu of the district which has resulted in destruction of medicinal
herbs and trees. The locals have tried to control the fire but all the efforts have
gone into vain due to the spreading of fire from the pine forest and the
negligence of the villagers.
