TWO NEW RHODODENDRON SPECIES ON RECORD- BHUTAN

While collecting Rhododendrons for the upcoming Rhododendron festival, forestry officials recorded two new species of Rhododendrons at Dochula zone (2600 to 3600 meters above sea level). This new discovery has enriched the diversity of Rhododendron from 46 to 48 species. The recorded new species have blue flowers which is a complete surprise for the park officials as all the previously recorded rhododendrons in the Country bear pink, red or white flowers.
