FOREST OFFICIALS FACE THE MUSIC- INDIA



Forest officials at Golapara district in Assam are raising hue and cry about the rise in timber smuggling activities in the district forest.  With no presence of Assam Forest Protection Force, they have failed to curb the illegal deforestation activities. According to District Forest Officer, every month the forest department seizes 10-12 trucks loaded with illegal timber. In another news, after a herd of raging elephants killed one woman and damaged more than twelve houses in Nahorchola village of Numaligarh area of Golaghat district in Assam, angry mob physically assaulted three forest guards for failing to rescue them from the attack.
