ASSAM GETS ITS ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORITY- INDIA



The government of Assam has constituted state level impact assessment authority and state level expert appraisal committee for environmental clearance of category B related development projects in the state. Earlier, the state government had to seek authority from the central government which slowed down the progress of implementation of the projects according to the state forest minister. Meanwhile, India Himalayas states-Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh- have been ranked as the second and third best performer for adopting best green practices for maintaining quality of air, water and forest cover whereas Arunachal Pradesh has been ranked at 39 position as a worst performer.
