In a desperate bid for curbing illegal smuggling, killing
of wild animals and nabbing poachers, the administration has identified protection
of the wild life as the prime concern for Assam police. The decision was made
at a joint meeting of the home department, police, civil administration and
forest department at Kaziranga.
