SMUGGLING OF RARE HERB SPECIES - NEPAL

Nepal government has banned the sale and transaction of various rare and valued herb species such as Bhishjara (Aconitum spicatum), Panchaule (Datylorhiza hatageria), Wild garlic (Allium vineale) and Kutki (Picrorhiza Kurroa)  but despite the prohibition,  smuggling of these herbs have been increasing from Khaptad National Park and Tele Lake areas, far-western Nepal. Stakeholders have requested the government as well as the concerned authorities to monitor and control smuggling.
