POACHING CONTINUES- NEPAL

The numbers of rare birds and animals have been decreasing in Bajura district western Nepal due to illegal killing and smuggling of wildlife. Heavy snowfall and bad weather also seem to be favoring poachers by weakening inspection. Lophophorus impejanus, the country's national bird, has been reported to be traded at about NPR 2000 in the local market despite the ban by concerned authorities.
