HUMAN WILDLIFE CONFLICT ON THE RIFE- BHUTAN
In Nubi gewog of Trongsa, central Bhutan,
discontent farmers shared that the government’s compensation scheme for
livestock killed by tigers is insufficient and involves a longer process. In
Kengkhar of Mongar, east Bhutan, farmers have lost about half their crop to
wildlife damage and for the last two months, they are spending sleepless nights
in safeguarding their crops. They complained that the electric fencing in the
neighboring village has put their fields more prone to wildlife attacks.
