HUMAN WILDLIFE CONFLICT ON THE RIFE- BHUTAN

In Nubi gewog of Trongsa, central Bhutan, discontent farmers shared that the government’s compensation scheme for livestock killed by tigers is insufficient and involves a longer process. In Kengkhar of Mongar, east Bhutan, farmers have lost about half their crop to wildlife damage and for the last two months, they are spending sleepless nights in safeguarding their crops. They complained that the electric fencing in the neighboring village has put their fields more prone to wildlife attacks.
