HIGH COST OF INFRASTRUCTURE DAMAGE- INDIA



Public health Engineering (PHE), Flood Control (FC) and Irrigation sectors have suffered over Rs 500 crore losses in Jammu region due to infrastructural damage caused by floods and incessant rains that lashed the state in first week of September. In Jammu province, a total of 3222 schemes have been affected by the floods and the losses have been estimated at Rs 517.14 crore. Sixty percent of the Water Supply Schemes (WSS), particularly in rural areas of the region, has been damaged.  Flood control wing has faced maximum loss of around Rs 311.89 crore followed by Irrigation sector with Rs 136.64 crore and PHE schemes with Rs 59.47 crore.
