The
Chure region is being managed by about 14,000 Community Forest Users’ Groups
but recently Government have banned, activities like tree felling, foraging and
excavation of sand, stone and minerals in the region. However, the Federation
of Community Forest Users’ Nepal (FECOFUN) has come strongly against the
government’s declaration of Chure as an Environment Conservation Zone claiming
that it is against the Convention of Biodiversity and the Forest Act.
