Large varieties of bird prey and some eagles
are at risk due to the use of anti-inflammatory veterinary drug namely,
Diclofenac. Despite a ban, the drug is being used in Nepal, India and Pakistan
since 2006. Three Asian vulture species including oriental white-backed
vulture, long-billed vulture, and slender-billed vulture witnessed a decline by
more than 99 per cent since the late 1990s, which is prompting the International
Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to classify their status as critically
endangered.
