THREAT TO BLACK-NAKED CRANES- CHINA



Problem of soil erosion resulting from deep ploughing of fields to increase grain output has endangered the living condition of water birds especially black-necked cranes on wetlands of Lhunzhub, Tibet, southwestern China. They are the only kind of cranes living at such extremely cold and oxygen deficient high altitude feeding on roots, seeds of plants, small frogs, fishes, snakes and insects.
