POACHING MUSK DEER- BHUTAN

Poaching of globally endangered musk deer has caused the decline of its number in Thrumshingla National Park, east central part of Bhutan. About 60 offences related to the animal were found committed between 1992-2011 while a total of 136 nooses were destroyed in the year 2013 after which the incidents of poaching have not been reported yet. Extensive poaching is also reported from near-by habitats.
