According
to State Council Leading Group Office for Poverty Alleviation and Development,
China has become the first developing country to reduce its population living
in poverty by half. Similarly, Tibet autonomous region in China's southwest is
the region with highest poverty rate but the region has reduced poverty from
34.42 percent of its total rural and pastoral population in 2010 to 18.73 per
cent in 2013, lifting about 370,000 people out of poverty, according to China
Daily.
