HALF OF WORLD’S BAR HEADED GEESE IN PONG DAM- INDIA



State department of wildlife has recorded around 43,000 bar headed geese in Pong dam situated in Himachal Pradesh in northern India which is one of the largest man-made wetland in the foothills of Himalayas. This number is nearly half of their global population. The dam is also home to large number of migratory birds and according to the census 1, 28,200 birds of 119 species were recorded in the area.
