OWL POACHING RAMPANT- NEPAL



A survey carried out by Friends of Nature in 30 districts of Nepal has observed that owl poaching is rampant in Nepal. It has documented that out of 871 bird species, owls are worst hit by illegal hunters and at least 2,000 owls are poached every year in the country. They are found in large numbers in Chitwan district central Nepal and Nawalparasi district, western Nepal while they can also be found up to the altitude of 5,000 meters.
