ILLEGAL SAND MINING IN CHURE REGION- NEPAL

Illegal sand mining is causing destruction of forest in the Chure region of western Nepal. Crusher industries are only allowed to extract silts and sands from the banks of Pasaha, Lalbakaiya, Dhansar, Balganga and Dudhaura rivers but, sand and silt is being mined from areas where they are not allowed. Failure in launching effective monitoring system against illegal sand mining is the main reason for the destruction of environment.
