It is alleged that Alternative Energy
Promotion Council (AEPC) has misused fund worth NPR 1.5 billion in ‘Small
Cottage Solar Electric System’ by providing more grant to the entrepreneurs
than the cost of the solar system. The entrepreneurs are selling the solar
system costing around Rs 1,000 at up to Rs 7,000 despite receiving grant. The
program is designed to expand the system in the remote areas where use of other
forms of electricity is not possible.
