Biodiversity Youth Mentorship Program #3

What an amazing day with youth from St-Laurent Academy, Devonshire Public, St-Patrick's High, Notre Dame High, Blyth Academy, and Colonel By Secondary School. Over 30 youth took part in a marsh tour, local food fair and picnic.

An impressive list of guests participated including Chafic Bouchakra (COP10 Youth participant), Jennifer McKenzie (Chair of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board), the iGEM synthetic biology team from the University of Ottawa, and Laura Leet (Sustainable Eastern Ontario).  Native butternut seeds were distributed to all participants from the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority Butternut Recovery Program in Kemptville.

We were pleased to welcome back Hannah and Summer Rose as marsh guides.  Blue-spotted salamanders and garter snakes were the big discoveries at the marsh today.  Thank you to all participants.

We will be hearing from our youth mentors again in late winter when we will host the Second Annual Biodiversity Community Awards at St-Laurent Academy.
