Population count of monkeys has dropped down
by 55,000 in Himachal Pradesh according to the latest census of the State
Forest Department. The decline is attributed to sterilization of nearly 69,000
monkeys in the region to minimize conflict. However, the government has
launched a scheme to set up monkey parks with orchards in the forests.
