OF SWAMP DEER AND RHINOS- INDIA

Despite the two huge devastating floods this year, the population of eastern swamp deer in Kaziranga National Park has been found to be stable. The herbivore’s status follows a massive monitoring exercise made by the Assam forest department. On a different note, despite the high security in the park, stepped up after a large number of poaching incidents were reported in the wake of the monsoon flooding of the area, poachers seem to continue to act with impunity. A Rhinoceros was found killed in the area.
