Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN)

From the 21st to 27th August 2012 a Kick-Off Conference was held to launch the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) in Berlin. 35 young people from thirteen countries met for this conference hosted by NAJU (the German Youth Association for the Protection of Nature) to prepare the participation of youth at the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP11) on the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). GYBN’s vision is to create a global platform that will enable young environmentalists from all parts of the world to connect in order to collaborate for the protection of biodiversity. GYBN aspires to become an international coordination platform for youth-participation in the CBD processes to articulate the opinions of youth on issues addressed by the Convention. The Network is officially supported by the CBD secretariat.

The GYBN Kick-Off Conference in Berlin included policy briefings on the Convention on Biological Diversity and the main issues on the agenda of the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
