BAT HUNTERS- Nepal

Killings of bat among Chepang community – the hunters and gathers -for its meat have increased recently in Siddhi, Korak, Lothar and Shaktikhor VDCs of Chitwan District, central Nepal. It is also their source of income and in a day a person hunts about 150 bats in average. Government has imposed ban on bat hunting but they do not seem to be aware of it.
