The National Green Tribunal has directed the Ministry
of Environment and Forests and the Assam government to pay IRS 100,000 each to
Kaziranga National Park for failing to implement a 1996 notification which
resulted in establishment of industries (stone crushing units, brick kilns and
tea processing units) in and around the no-development zone of the national
park.
