GARBAGE AFFECTING HEALTH- Nepal




Teku waste transfer station in Kathmandu, central Nepal has been padlocked by locals  after residents in the  locality started falling sick due to the foul smell emanating from garbage piled at the center.  According to Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Kathmandu produces over 500 tons of solid waste every day. But 150 tons of solid wastage is hardly being transferred to the landfill site. As a result, over 21,000 tons of solid waste has accumulated at the center.
