People in high
mountains of Bhutan possess different perspective about the endangered species,
snow leopard. According to the herders, they are threat because they
kill about 12 yaks a year and they do not get any compensation from government.
While another set of locals believe that if there wouldn’t be the snow leopard
then there would be high competition of grazing yaks with increased number of
blue sheep. Thus they opine that they must be conserved and tourism should be
enhanced which will contribute to enhancing their livelihood.
