Smuggling of betel nuts and cardamom has been flourishing in recent
days in Rautahat, central Nepal taking the advantage of elections to the
Constituent Assembly. They are being smuggled to India where they fetch higher
prices. According to the local sources, 10 quintals of betal nuts were being
smuggled to India daily.
