To protect two most endangered species, tigers and
snow leopards, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest of Bhutan has increased
the penalty on their poaching to Nu 1 Million which is more than ten times the
existing penalty of Nu 50,000. The increased rate of illegal poaching of the
animal’s part has compelled the government to revise and increase the rate in
order to discourage the poachers and save the animals.
