KANCHANPUR PREFERENCE TO CASH CROPS- NEPAL

Rising preference of farmers to grow cash crops has led to decline in wheat field in Kanchanpur district, western Nepal. Increasing urbanization and land plotting along with the unavailability of fertilizers and improper irrigation system are also impelling the farmers to switch to the cash crops. According to the Agriculture Development Office, the area under wheat cultivation has dropped from 33,250 ha five years ago to 31,750 ha at present.
