RARE SPECIES FOUND- INDIA



A sub adult male of bearcat, a rare species of climbing mammals, has been captured in Nagaon district of Assam state. The animal which was seen for the first time in a decade was shifted to the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation. The species inhabiting areas south of Brahmaputra river in northeast India is threatened by habitat loss and poaching.
