TREE FELLING CONTINUES- NEPAL

Tree felling has become rampant at Janakalyan Community Forest in Doti district in collusion with the officials of community forests. According to forest authority they had given the permission to cut some teak trees due to consumers’ pressure as DFO Doti had banned cutting down trees two years ago.  A team of forest technicians has been deployed to investigate into the blatant felling of trees. Saal and timber were smuggled to Dipayal’s Pipalla bazaar. Meanwhile, four professional timber smugglers were arrested with saw woods measuring 10 cubic feet from Gaighat bazar by a team of District Forest Office, Udayapur, east Nepal.
