Lhalu Wetland is the
largest and the highest natural wetland in China, with an average elevation of
3600 meters and an area of 12.2 square kilometers. The nickname “lungs of
Tibet” itself indicates its importance. It is home to 62 rare wild birds
including black-necked cranes and grey cranes categorized under state
protection and other breeds such as bar-headed geese, ruby shelducks and
egrets.
