Rhino Concern- INDIA

In an attempt to curb illegal trade and poaching of rhino body parts, the Assam Government has asked the Central Government to hand over the cases of poaching to CBI. Recent case of rhino poaching in Kaziranga National Park alarmed WWF-India who then urged the State Government to put in place a stronger intelligence network than before. WWF-India advocated the need of scientific protocols like SMART patrolling and other modern management techniques in the Protected Areas. Meanwhile one more mature female rhino had been killed by a group of five poachers at an area near Sundori forest camp of Burapahar (Ghorakhati) Range of Kaziranga National Park.
