MORE BLACK NECKED CRANES ARE VISITING BHUTAN



The nation wide survey on Black-necked cranes has reported that winter migration of these birds to Bhutan has increased by 20 percent. The study conducted early this year recorded 335 cranes (highest count) in Phobjikha, 102 in Bumdeling, 5 each in Bumthang and Khotokha and 12 in Paro, Lhuntse and Gelephu. Phobjikha has seen 179 percent growth in the number of birds visiting the valley in the last 26 years.
