In Gingia (Sonitpur district), which was less known to outside world has
been receiving much great attention due to high quality cultivation of
potatoes. Hundreds of potato farmers have been ushering in green revolution in
the area by using good variants of potato seeds brought from outside the state
in a scientific manner. Potato cultivation is enriching the economy of the
state and is popular among Assamese youths who have been forced to go away in
search of employment.
